A vision for the stunts.

At times, I wished that some spaces would be opened for adrenalin-seeking people who simply adore the physics and beauty of vehicle stunts.
Yea, you know : drifts, hand-brake turns, donuts, drag racing, hand-brake parallel parkings etc.
It looks dangerous to some and HELL YEA to others.
I guess it's alright. It works like soccer.
There just has to be a place with all the safety regulations and facilities to make these manoeuvres a dream come true, legally.
You might have guessed by now that I am guilty of trying out some of these forbidden moves. But it really feels great.
Safety is paramount, definitely. ;)

I've been infected by jazz and blues ever since I watched Ray. Hehe. And now..... keyboard might be the next plaything.

Religious harmony.

Well, I just watched Van Helsing last night, DVD of course and it was the same boring 'Underworld' atmosphere, everything's in shades of white to nightly blue and black. But hey, the interesting part came in the Vatican City of Rome. " Oh vhat in the name of Allah are you doing ?! ", sounded out a man in the secret laboratory. It sounded out of place especially in a place of another faith.
Then Dracula made the point of saying, " Ah, Van Helsing....... trained from Tibet to Istanbul ".
It's cool. There were actually major faiths working together, at least fictionally. How great, how complementing.

Futile.. Futile... ?

I'm really pig-like. I can't remember anything else except for sleeping and reacting to the open mobilisation earlier on.
This brings me to recall what my confused and dying-to-do-something friend always whines about, " *frustrated sigh* I haven't done anything yesterday ! My friends all not free to accompany me........................................................... got girl to intro or not ? ".

It's a mix of jest and desperation for that. He seems so placid listening to love stories articulated out of 93.3 FM. I reckon he's integrating the storyline into a utopian daydream. Haha.

I've also been affected by his shout-outs on the mundane and routine life we similarly have. But how much can you do in 24 hours ? How much excitement and joy makes your day fulfilling ?
Perhaps his yearning for a partner has enshrouded the minute, maybe even meaningful details of each day. What's the best way to live ?

Return of the longs.

" #03-0* Qian4 $ "
Thinly written out on the left side of the lift as I entered it.
It's the same Ah Long I think.
No discrepancies, that's right, blue chalk-looking writing material.
Now let's see whether there are idiots who continue rubbing over those murals with paint.

It's sad.
My neighbours always owe money.
I probably grew up looking at such reminders every year.

Haiyo you ah.

I proudly showed my mum this recent purchase from Old Parliament house, allowing her to test the cotton softness and quality, weighing quality with monetary value. She gave the nod.
I took out the shirt and showed her, " Look, this is the Braille word for Blind and the reverse says, " Blind obedience is a social disease. ".
Without much thought, she said, " Haiyo, if you were to wear this outside last time ah, sure got 'people' stalk you one ! Last time must think twice before wearing anything like this ! ".
" If they dare to sell, I'd dare to buy. "
" Yah lar, luckily now more open mah. "

Haha. Anyway, this is the Local Brand shirt that has been seen on some local blogs particularly on xiaxue's. It's interesting and the cashier nodded in agreement.

Noooooooo....

You could see it on his face when we brought him into the barber's shop.
Baby adam was already shivering and shaking his head even before his mum took him out of the pram.
The electric cutter was in motion and so was his tears.
He kept on bawling and yelling so badly that we had to restraint him and he cried the toddler way with the floor messed up with his flow of saliva.
Coaxing and tempting him with toys didn't work as naively conceived, he just held on to them and carried on the crying.
It was evident that it was a tough process for all of us including the barber who said he luckily had the experience.
Do all babies and toddlers cry when put on that chair? It seems so and queer indeed.

Surprise!

I was walking up the slope to the court intending to recapture how squash should be like and I heard the rare squashing sound echoing out.
There stood the garang-looking swimming pool encik and his relaxed and laid-back lifeguard while the PTI was playing inside.
Had a brief conversation and used the other court which had a table-tennis table and standing broad jump mat inside. Squash courts almost eventually get altered to be storerooms and table-tennis centres. SSRA needs to start promoting the sport. Heh.
I haven't improved at all, still unconscious footwise and running like a dog. Haha.
Encik Dennis and the rest said they could play everyday, so I really hope I can brush up within this month and have a fruitful club match next month.
Poh and James went to have their haircut this afternoon to kill time.
I was pretty bored and so started washing Poh's head and blow-drying James' hair and the auntie seemed so satisfied and happy. Heh.

Finally something appropriate looking. Haha. Posted by Hello

Secular Humanist ?

Now that's something new to me.
After some online searching, I conclude :
I'm not a secular humanist and not an atheist.
I embrace all happenings around me, be it spiritual or the material, human world.
I try to treat all events with equanimity in hope that such perception would steer me to greater truths and not just deny things access with whatever faith and ideas I conceived and believed in.
I held it at bay when Isaac told me that ' muslims drove celebratory christians up to the hill on 25th Dec 2004 and the next day the tsunami came and saved the christians up there. '.
So whatever happened to Europeans sun-tanning and partying at Thailand?
Discerning people wouldn't take offence with this.
Isaac should have told me a fiction story instead given his dramatic twists and turns of tones and content.

Buddhism has taught me to scrutinise and treat all things with an unbiased mind and test with, in modern terms, scientific rigour.
It has also shown cause and effects of communication, generosity and action.
With meditation as its main pillar, one realises how oneself is like and how concentration of the mind does make a difference to perception and how clarity could easily arise.
In daily life, our minds are diffused to different tasks and chores, I'd gladly take a break and recollect.

Flowery month.

If you bothered to notice while travelling, you'd see trees blooming with flowers.
In CCK, in the forests are the red flowers high up on the trees.
Around Bouna Vista and Queensway are the pink flowers that are reminiscent of Sakura, looking especially lovely with pink strewn all over the adjacent grass patches.
The rest would be the yellow flowers of some tree I know nothing much of.
My trusty Nokia Lunar Calendar states Er Yue Chu Wu ( 5th day of 2nd month ), so checking out the next bloom would be my natural instinct. Haha.
When it comes to agriculture and plants, I like to refer to Lunar calendars, I just have this simple faith that ancient Chinese done superb research on plant biology and weather.

Inspired. Ray Charles.

" And he never took heroin ever again. "

It's something not all can really achieve.
Ex-smokers pick it up again, ex-porn addicts read it again, ex-gamblers bet again.

Vices.

The answer probably hasn't come for why vices are so alluring and addictive that it endures through centuries unchanged.
Driving through Geylang and Changi reveals the malignant cancers in society.
Throngs of ladies in a variety of dresses lined the street kerb.
Some were dressed demurely, but heck, which demure one stays out at 3 a.m. ? Haha.
It's frightening to see men approaching them in equivalent masses and worse still, targeting transversites.
To be frank, it felt like a biochemical war zone. With STDs lurking around.
I endured with my full bladder for one hour, vowing not to pee anywhere near 1 km radius of that place.
And so in the light of the recent HIV clamp down that was on the papers, I suggest they hit this transitional zone called Geylang first.
Look, they're serving STDs everyday!

Eh, what's wrong ?

Reading mr brown's reader mail on undergrad discrimination really shows that you gotta stand up and believe in yourself, trust that you have a certain credible level of good discernment (note: please keep in check with reality to confirm first) on issues in this world.
Some people are just damn good bullshitters who blow things out of proportion such that when I cross-reference with other calmly toned posts, I seriously think they haven't experienced Uni life.

Talk about NUS being overrun by PRC scholars and nationals demographically and labelling it as ' Beijing University '. It's just bull man.

Share a bed.

" So your bunk got enough bed or not ? "
" Ya, but need to share. "
Interjected in a nanosecond, " WAH LAO EH, you want Poh to have a bed, yourself a bed, you all want to have a bed, then you want to expand the bunk ah ? So hard to share MEH? ".

There grew this swell feeling.
It felt like a mini Jihad.
I understood how Jihads came about - conflict of ideologies like this.

But honestly, I irked at the idea of strangers (encompassing NS men) wearing camouflaged uniforms with a high probability of sweating, having their transient rest on my bed. Particularly, the bed sheet.
Unlike the hotel guests, I sleep in shirt and shorts with much more exposure to the mix of sweat and body smell lastingly embedded in the predictable clammy bedsheet, adding more discomfort. At the head region, chances are the superb mix of cigarette and oily hair smell.
He should try letting his platoon sleep on his bed one by one, hour by hour.
It ain't field camp man.

Mr Ray Charles.

He's charming.
He's lauded as a genius.
He has a great smile.

Though this duet collection may not sound really great, I'm beginning to appreciate his style after repeated attentive listening.

From 6/6 to almost blind.

In Primary 1, I joyed over 6/6 at the annual health screening.
Now at 19, I feel alright about having lenses of 400 degrees.
But at times feel regretful when careers like being a commercial pilot slip away.
Anyway, it probably can't be recovered back.

Halt.

Now I draw the big full-stop.

A sexually harrassed Taxi driver.

It happened a few months ago and just recalled it on the MRT. Thought I'll just share it here too.
I was on my way to Big Splash for the base anniversary and was lucky enough to get this cabbie.
It started off like the usual dull ride. After a while, he started talking about public transport and discussing its pros and cons (I think). Somehow entered his weirdest touch with reality, something I seriously think is very very wrong.

" You know ah, I hate to take the MRT. "
" Why so ? "
" Nowadays the girls all very buay paiseh one. They like to stand very very close to you. When the train gets crowded, then they like to rub their chest against you. Then you cannot anyhow move wor, later she scream and say you molest her. *shakes head with utmost dissatisfaction with this reality of his* ".

" Oh really ? I haven't encountered it yet. "
" I don't know why they always do that to me. "

*I stared out to the adjacent window and acknowledged his mumblings with obvious disinterest*

I didn't want to start an argument and say, " Uncle, I think you need a shrink. ".

This world is indeed filled with weird people.

Phantom strikes.

* SL has joined #nus
ATTENTION!!! Steven Lim, Singapore idol and top fun yellow swimming trunks stripper n famous street eyebrow plucker, Steven Lim, official fan website at http://www.stevenlim.net Damn funny!!! NEW VIDEOs clips ADDED!!!!!

Giving the chills.

We got off the rover with the mission of finding new lodging should we face the expunging.
For each one of us, we were greeted with an eerie aura coming from the 70+ year old building.
We dare each other to stay singly in one bunk for one night. The reward, $100.
We weren't so brave anyway. Haha.
We visited the other building where the majority of our friends stayed in.
Comforting it was to know that it was filled with much more lights, sound and life than the other close-qualifying octogenarian.
It felt like course time, especially with that warmth and bantering we gathered as we traversed the building. One said, "Eh, I don't think got anymore bunk already. Haha. ".
With that, thoughts of staying in that Old Changi Hospital building resonanced through our minds.
Things aren't getting very clear, but it seems like OC said that we need not move out.

What's so scary about that building ?
Only when you know its cruel history.
